Hold Ctrl while editing

Ctrl is a constraint key while you drag, not only during rotation.

HoldWhileEffect
CtrlDragging a shapeMove only horizontally or vertically
CtrlDragging a reshape pointMove only horizontally or vertically
CtrlResizing a cornerTemporarily invert the aspect-ratio lock
CtrlRotatingSnap to 15°
CtrlDrawing a rectangleDraw a perfect square
CtrlPlotting open, closed, or satin pointsSnap the next point to 15°
CtrlMeasuringSnap the measure line to 15°

Resizing inverts whatever is currently set: if aspect lock is off, Ctrl locks the ratio; if it's on, Ctrl temporarily unlocks it. Let go and the lock returns to its previous state.

In reshape, Ctrl+click still adds or removes a point from the selection if you don't drag.

Snapping

Grid snap and object snap are independent toggles in the Visibility sidebar (or the empty-canvas right-click menu).

Snap to grid uses a finer grid; Fine grid sets how many smaller squares fit in each cell (2–12). Snap to objects aligns to other shapes' edges and centers, with magenta guides and a crosshair when a shape is centered inside another.
